Chemkefa (Chemical Ceramics Factory) was founded in 1969 in Maastricht by Leendert Zwikker. Zwikker was a former employee of the Sfinx factory, located in the same city. He moved on to produce his own household and decorative items after the Sfinx factory stopped producing them.
