White glaze with some 'crazing' two predominate blooms both slightly different in format. Scalloped edging in pattern (not clay) on top. Definitely hand painted. Marking on base is some numbers hand written in clay prior to glazing. Looks like 249(or7)4. Known to have been in family for at least 140 years plus. Came to Australia from Holland.

Vraag

I am presuming it is Delft as that is what my Oma advised. Wondering if anyone has any Delft with just very plain numbering on base or any reason to believe it isn't Delft.

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more

Sorry to say it isn’t Delft, but an later production from the 1920’s.
