Round Wall Plate of Windmill, Bridge & People

2

Round plate with blue image of windmill, bridge and people. There is crazing in the glaze. There are flaws in the casting of the material and the border decoration is off center from the edge of the plate. I bought the plate at a community sale in the town of Osterholtz-Scharmbeck in Northern Germany in 1991 for 5 DM when I was a US Army Soldier stationed in Germany 🇩🇪.

Vraag

I am curious about this decorative plate. I don’t know anything about it and interested in identifying what it is. I know it is a pretty blue and white Dutch hanging wall plate. That is all I know.

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more
  • Mark of a non-Delft pottery/factory The typical Delftware also inspires producers outside of Delft, but genuine Delftware has only been produced in Delft. Read more
