Blue/white delft vases

3

Blue/white vases which were brought over to Canada when my grandparents immigrated to Canada. What I learned is they originally came from my great grandmother in Holland.

Vraag

Can anyone date these vases and give me some information about them?

Hello,

Just a quick observation, from this photo it looks like the top bit of the design is misaligned. Plus the design on both vases looks identical so that makes me believe it’s transferware and not hand painted. I’m pretty confident it’s not authentic Delftware unfortunately.

Kind regards, Patrick

Thank you for your reply Patrick. I didn’t think is was Deltware as I noticed the transferware too after doing some research.  I still wonder as to the age of these? I’m thinking they must be around 100 years old as they belonged to my great grandmother.  Would love to know the company that made them.

Verdict:

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more

Produced in Maastricht around 1900. Thanks to PatrickW and pardon our late response.
