Blue-green vase with black decoration

3

Blue-green and black decorated vase with Delft imprint, artists mark, and the number 429 on the bottom.

Vraag

My mother-in-law grew up with this case in her childhood home, which places its date at likely earlier than 1965. I’ve searched the artist’s marks on the website and cannot find one that matches exactly. I’m wondering if this is an authentic Delft piece, and if so, when was it made and who was the artist? Thank you for your help!

Hello,

Absolutely! This is a collectible piece made by the Porceleyne Fles in Delft. This style is called Nieuw Delfts Groen (New Delft, Green) and was introduced in 1911. The style is inspired on the ancient Syrian and Iranian pottery. Your vase is likely made before the 1950s. I can't seem to find the painter's initial in this list or in my books: https://royaldelft.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Schilderinitialen.pdf

Kind regards,

Patrick
