Tile series with small, jumping animals in a circle were made from about 1690 until well into the 19th century. Many hunted hares, sometimes also foxes, probably the tile painter made a combination of these: the ears of a hare, the tail of a fox. It is difficult to distinguish or date the series of different factories from Harlingen and Makkum (Friesland).
