small blue and white vase without any tick

Vraag

Checking the buttom of the vase I guess this was done by Joost Thoft. But is it an original of JT and how old might it be?

  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more
  • Mark of a Delft pottery/factory In the 19th century, a financial incentive arose to sell more new earthenware as antique Delftware, sometimes even bearing fake Delft factory marks. Read more

Merk:

  • Bottle JT

This piece is made by De Porceleyne Fles factory, which was under management of Joost Thooft between 1876 and 1884. The JT mark is still used today and has been in use sinceĀ 1879. Assuming the year letter on your piece is D, this would make it a piece from 1882, so quite early. The other letters cannot be read as such, so this would be my guess, but perhaps other users could also let you know their estimations.
