A.G. de Kruyf

Mark from the studio of painter Anthonie Gerardus (Ton) de Kruijf (Utrecht, August 5 1926 – Leiden, May 23 2014). Under a crown with a double line there is a small 'vase' depicted, filled with the letters A and G, divided by a line. Next to that the name A.G. de Kruyf can be distinguished.

More information by user Jan van den Heuvel: Ton de Kruijf worked as a pottery painter at Kunstaardewerkfabriek 'Regina – Van der Want en Barras' in Gouda and at Plateelbakkerij 'Tiko' in Gouda, after which he painted 'stones' in 1955/56 at the workshop of Cornelis Verwoerd in Gouda, intended for jewelry. Afterwards he started his own studio where he painted and also carried out the glaze firing in Cabauw (neighbourhood, 700 inhabitants) of the municipality of Lopik, province of Utrecht.

He added a certificate to his pottery stating that it was hand-painted. He obtained the biscuit, the once-baked earthenware, from elsewhere. He is also known to have made pottery in which he applied screen printing and brushwork, but on which he placed the screen printing mark as stated on the certificate, that it was hand-painted, which is factually incorrect.
