Beautiful mid century (1961?) footed jar with lid

Vraag

I have not seen this style of lid handle before. It looks like a pumpkin stem. I would be most grateful for the expertise of this group in identifying my item. Is it a jar? Is it a candy jar? Have I correctly identified the date? Please tell me about this unusual style handle. Thank you very much!
