Vase

In contrast to the medicine jars that were made in the new Renaissance period, all attention was paid to the cartouche with inscription as described in the photo below. However, this is not a pot of art but a vase that was made at the rise of the caritas movement, which stood for love and care for those in need. This movement was founded in 1897, so your pot is probably from the late 19th century, early 20th century. Are there any marks on the bottom? The example below dates from around 1635-1670. Note the shape and lack of decorations as on your vase and single inscription Theriaca Andromachi ( Theriak ) which was an antidote and  the most important medicine for the rich. In tegenstemming tot de artsenijpotten die werden vervaardig in de nieuwe renaissence tijd ging alle aandacht naar de cartouche met opschrift zoals hieronder beschreven op de foto.

Echter hier gaat het niet om een arstenijpot doch wel een vaas die werd vervaardigd bij de opkomst van de caritas beweging dat stond voor liefde en zorg voor de noodlijdende medemens. Deze beweging werd opgericht in 1897 dus waarschijnlijk is uw pot van eind 19de eeuw begin 20ste eeuw.  Zijn er merktekens aan de onderzijde?

Het voorbeeld hieronder dateert van omstreeks 1635-1670. Let op de vorm en het ontbreken van de versiersels zoals op uw vaas en enkel opschrift Theriaca Andromachi ( Theriak ) wat een antidotum was en  het belangrijkste geneesmiddel voor de rijken.

Artsenijpotten werden ook meestal afgesloten met een doek en touw
