Three Plates

3

Three plates. All painted with same pattern of flower basket trimmed in what appears to be fruit. Two of the 3 plates have exact same markings and number (474). One of the 3 plates has same markings but different number (538).

Vraag

1. Are these authentic Royal Delft?
2. If so, what is the meaning of the numbers?
3. What is the meaning of the embossed "IIX"?

Dear, It is Delft produced in 1927 by "de Porceleyne Fles  / flesje JT ( Now Royal Delft) as mentioned and confirmed by the year code AW (= 1927). New technique with underglaze painting. The 474 is a serial number for internal use and may be made to order for the same customer. The 538 is also an internal number  but most likely for a different customer.

Supposedly painted by Mr. Heijenoort G who painted there from 1891 to 1940. Must have been a very good painter because they are very detailed and have only slight differences.

What the IIX or XII means is not clear to me, but most likely someone knows more about this.

kind regards
