White (tin oxide) glazed beer stein decorated with floral patterns and a bird. Color palette is red, blue, and green.
Vraag
Is there a way to identify where this may have been made based on the technique used for the decoration?
A design element, to the right of the handle, does not appear to fit with the design. Could this possibly be a monogram?

This has nothing to do with Delft blue pottery. This is a so-called Walzenkrug. The Walzenkrug is a type of traditional German beer mug (called Humpen or Bierkrug) with a characteristic cylindrical or slightly conical body. Historical Walzenkrüge are often made of faience (faience ceramics) or stoneware (Steinzeug) and usually date from the 17th to 19th century. yours most probably mid 18th century.
An essential component is the Zinndeckel (pewter lid). This lid not only serves as protection but is also an important dating element:
The shape and decoration of the pewter work (engravers, thumb rests) can date the mug.
Often, the pewter lid contains initials and a date, which allows for precise dating. Based on the color scheme and painting style (with an emphasis on red/orange), it is very likely that this Walzenkrug originates from one of the Bavarian or Franconian manufactories, such as:
Ansbach (Very likely)
Bayreuth
Fulda
