Verdict:

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more

Do I see the crossed T's of the Royal Tichelaar factory in the Frysian Dutch city of Makkum on the reverse?! It seems to have been made in the (early) 20th century.

Let op, de beschildering is op de rauwe glazuur gedaan, de zgn. oude techniek, groet jvdh.

Please note, the painting is done on the raw glaze, the so-called old technique, greetings jvdh.

Indeed this tile has been made by Royal Tichelaar in Makkum, in 1969. The blind stamp with crossed T's was in use on Tichelaar tiles since 1967. The Year Code is FI, the 6th and 9th letter of the Alphabet, therefore the tile blank will have been made in (19)69.
