Dear John Fowler,
The vase is made by the Porceleyne Fles in Delft in the early 1900s. The style is called Berbas and please see below for some more information about this style, taken from page 207 and 208 of the book: Royal Delft, A guide to the Porceleyne Fles by Rick Erickson.
I don’t know who gifted this not insignificant piece or who received it, maybe you could tell us if you are related?
Kind regards, Patrick

Hi Paterick
Thanks for the information. Robert Fowler was the owner of a major pottery in Sydney established by his grandfather Enoch in 1837. It mainly made architectural and functional items like pipes, ginger beer bottles and later branched out into sanitary ware and a small amount of homewares.
The item is owned within the family and the story is that it was presented to Robert Fowler (1873-1928) on his trip to Europe to source machinery and new ideas. We think this was about 1922 but are not certain. We assume that H Lammers was the donor.
We also have a delft plate (White with blue design) commemorating the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
Dear John,
Many thanks for sharing this story, definitely a unique heirloom to treasure!
All the best, Patrick
