Scallop-edged plate

3

Red decorated plate with flowers and leaf-like motifs throughout and bird perched in the center of the plate on a flower.

Vraag

In my limited research I’ve not found a plate or charger in this color.. It was purchased in Paris about 35 years ago and was told it belonged to a royal family in the 1700s. The bird and decorative hand painted images are similar to others I’ve seen, but would like to know about this style and color.

Unfortunately, this is counterfeiting with a false mark. The shape, the colour, the décor etc... do not correspond at all with the 18th century work.  Early 20th century and probably made in northern France or even the United Kingdom.

Included an example of a plate made in Italy.

Kind regards Franky

Thank you very much for your kind and informative response. It’s no wonder I couldn’t find it. The plate seems to have some age but it very closely resembles the style of the one you shared. I appreciate your expertise.

Best,

Mary
