Creamy white like designer white milky really no crazing no wear or chips or cracks. Painting immaculate. Does not look aged. Mint except is missing lid. Therefore not typical 7 + inches tall

Vraag

2 questions. The age of these came out. Are they vintage or antique. And if I were to sell at what price should I be asking. I’ve seen prices all over the place for pieces all cracked snd crazed but had lid. They had been used as vases. This just sat in my mamas 170 year old home now our gutted and Renovated summer home

These tobacco jars were made in the 20th century in The Netherlands. We cannot talk about value here. I would just cherish it in your home. It is definitely not a vase. I would use it as a container for small items maybe?

Verdict:

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more

Agree with Jeroen

The tobacco jar will be made on behalf of Douwe Egberts, AMPHORA was a pipe tobacco from that company. Please note, it does say 'handpainted' on the pot, but that is only partly correct, only the light tones are done with a brush, the dark tones and the drawing work (outline of figures and other outlines, also AMPHORA, is screen printed, the spacing from AMPHORA is also from Douwe Egberts There is known a tobacco jar from Old Dutch Ceramics, a small company from Gouda, similar to this jar, also with screen printing and some brushwork, some things have been influenced by each other, see the attached images, greetings jvdh.''''
