This is not Delft and not hand-painted. Is transfer technique which means that a screen print is applied by hand and at most some repainted. (which I doubt here). Mass production and probably made in Germany. Handmalerei is German for handmade wich is a difference with handpainted.

probably 1970-1990

Thanks for the response, Franky. It certainly may be German instead of Dutch. I hadn’t considered that, but it makes sense given the lack of typical Delft markings. However, it is definitely hand painted and not transferware. I can see brush marks in the decoration, and Handmalerei translates to hand-painted, not handmade.

Thanks again, Matt

Verdict:

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • Unidentified mark Not all marks found on earthenware have been identified. It could be a ‘new’ Delft mark! But it could also be a mark that was not used in Delft. Read more

It is German, 20th century. Based on these images, I am unable to determine whether it is hand-painted or not.
