This is a round jar that is flat in size and has a lid. Blue floral design on lid and a blue three line pattern around the outside jar. On the bottom is writing - 5594 Delfts. JP (?) Holland and a small mark. I obtained this item at an antique store in the United States.

This is a "bonbonniére" made bij plateelbakkerij Schoonhoven. Dutch but not authentic Delft. Never the les handpainted. I'm sure some one on this site can tell you more about it.
kind regards Franky

Thank you so much Franky for the wonderful insight on where it was made. I do look forward to learning when it was made by someone in the group.

How wonderful! Does your bonbonniere include a date?
Your chocolate box from Plateelbakkerij 'Schoonhoven' in Schoonhoven (1920-2013), province of South Holland, was made between 1945 and 1970, completely hand-painted, initial of pottery painter(s) on your box under 'Holland', unknown to me who this was. In 1960/1970 there were 130 employees there, of which 63 were pottery painters. 5594 is the model number of the chocolate box, JP (?) = PS, initials of Plateelbakkerij Schoonhoven, above the reception door there are two vases containing a P and an S, the letters P and S are also included in the letterhead and advertisements of the company (see photos), on the factory in Art Deco letters: NV PLATEELBAKKERY SCHOONHOVEN, between 1920 and 1940 Art Deco pottery was made. In Pella, Iowa, USA there are 6 tile panels (270 cm x 300 cm, approximately 106 inches x 118 inches) cemented into a wall, made by the company, painted by pottery painter Jurden (Jur) Verburg and pottery painter Sylvia Brands. Jur Verburg has been a pottery painter at the company for 50 years, greetings JVDH.
