Colored tile with peacock & peahen

3

Multicolored. Looks stamped in places, but says ‘hand painted’ on back. Crown with ‘Delfti’ & ‘Made in Holland’ on back. Purchased new in 1998 in Iowa.

Vraag

Is this really considered Delftware? Where can I purchase other tiles like this (the original store only had this tile). My searching is only bringing up blue & white Delft.

This was made at NKI ( Dutch Ceramic Industry ) and has nothing to do with authentic Delft. This is printing technique and is not hand-painted.  only smal parts are ( re ) painted by hand. Second half of the 20th century.

Kind regards, Franky

  • Nieuwere productietechniek Na 1850 ontwikkelen fabrieken in binnen- en buitenland efficiëntere, goedkopere productietechnieken. Dit aardewerk valt buiten de scope van deze site. Lees meer

Thanks Franky for the information! This is indeed the NKI mark on the back - if you look closely you can see the NKI letters make up the crown logo.

If you'd like to find more tiles like this, I would suggest Etsy, European Ebays, Catawiki (I'm not sure if this is available in/ships to the US) or possibly even a Dutch platform called Marktplaats. Good luck in your search!
