This was made by De Porceleyne Fles from Delft in 1911 and painted by LGN Ten Dam. Number 242 is a number for internal use and therefore not a product number. Product numbers were not introduced until 1985. 
Lambertus Gerardus Nicolaas (LGN) ten Dam (1873 – 1949) was a well-known and esteemed ceramic painter who worked at De Porceleyne Fles (now Royal Delft) during a major flourishing period. Born on April 12, 1873, in Delft, and died there in 1949. He was married to Cornelia Susanna van den Abeelen. His son (born in 1901) was named after him. 
He joined the company on May 5, 1890, and worked there until January 1918 (some sources mention early 1919). He thus experienced the crucial transitional period in which the factory, under the leadership of Joost Thooft and Abel Labouchere. They put traditional Delft Blue back on the world map.
